hi, no new long post today but two weeks ago i was in whole foods and i got a google alerts e-mail and it was a link to pitchforkreviewsreviews.blogspot.com and i emailed my mom to see if it was actually what it said it was (this blog read out loud in a german accent) and she said it was real…
PRR’s writing style always has that stream-of-consciousness narration vibe to it that serves his anecdotal mode pretty well. It’s fine to read, but I’ve thought for a while that it’d be better to hear those stories told orally. Apparently I’m not the only one, though what’s different (and probably better) about this is how the reader’s accent lends the writing a literary air—like when John Cale reads on VU’s “The Gift”—while still tripping over the run-on phrasing and pausing to catch his breath or collect his thoughts like any friend retelling a story would.
Maybe these two dudes should join forces and become the indie rock blog version of Garrison Keillor or something (which I mean in an awesome, snark-free way).
